Hey Y’all! My name is Ben Garcia-Black! I’m originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I traded the plains for the concrete jungle and moved to New York City, where I am currently based.

I grew up singing as soon as I could open my mouth and fell in love with musical theatre at twelve when I made my stage debut in, you’ll never guess… Oklahoma!. That early spark turned into a deep passion for performing, and I bring a mix of Midwest nice and Southern charm into every room I walk into, along with a deep dedication to truthful storytelling. My work spans contemporary and classic musical theatre, as well as seminal works in the American theatre canon, including The Crucible (John Proctor), Cabaret (Max), and Crazy for You (On-Stage Swing). Creating characters that feel layered and lived-in is what drives me, and from leads to off-stage covers, I approach every role with the same level of care, attention, and humanity.

In addition to performing, I’ve worked as an assistant director on A Chorus Line and extensively as a carpenter and electrician, which has deepened my understanding of storytelling from both sides of the table and strengthened my instincts as a collaborator in the room.

I received my BFA in Musical Theatre from Nazareth University in 2025, and since then, I have been performing consistently, doing some of the most fulfilling work of my career. I just wrapped up a tour with The Rev Theatre Co. in a world-premiere TYA production of An Itsy Bitsy Play, where I play Phillip—the loving, if sometimes misguided, father of the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

When I’m not in rehearsal or performance, you can usually find me at a coffee shop, mid-board game, or spending time with the people who keep me grounded.
